Frequently asked questions
What is Bookle?
Bookle is a free daily word game for book lovers. You have six tries to guess a five-letter word, and every answer is an author, a character or a literary term. After each guess the tiles show which letters are right, which are in the word but in the wrong place, and which are not in it at all.
How is Bookle different from Wordle?
The rules will feel familiar, but every Bookle answer comes from the world of books: authors like Kafka or Woolf, characters like Frodo or Scout, and literary terms like irony or elegy. Bookle also tells you the category of the day's word, so you always have a clue to work from.
When does a new Bookle come out?
A new word is available every day at midnight in your local time. After you finish, a countdown shows how long until the next one.
Do I need an account to play?
No. Bookle is free and needs no signup. Your streak and statistics are saved on your own device, so they stay private to you.
Can I play more than once a day?
The daily puzzle is one a day, but once you have finished it you can play as many practice words as you like. Practice words do not count towards your streak or statistics.
What counts as a valid guess?
Any real five-letter English word, plus the names of authors. If a word is not accepted you will see a message and keep your turn, so a mistyped word does not cost you a guess.
